Jameson and 7UP Recipe

Jameson and 7UP

A smooth and bubbly grown-up drink made with Jameson Irish Whiskey and 7UP. Cheers!

If you prefer cocktails with a more robust alcohol flavor, then you’ll really like my Jameson and 7UP recipe! This drink is perfectly balanced and so easy to make!

I finally bought my first bottle of Jameson last month, and I made this Jameson & 7UP the following night. I basically just took my go-to 7 & 7 recipe and subbed in Jameson. And the result??

Bubbly and sweet Jameson magic! I absolutely loved it.

No recipe is really needed, but I’ve included one just in case below. Garnish with a lemon wedge or a cocktail cherry.

Why You’ll Love This Drink

You’ll love this Jameson and 7UP cocktail because it’s incredibly easy and quick to make. You literally just have to pour two ingredients into an ice-filled glass!

I prefer a higher ratio of 7UP to Jameson–the buzz of the whisky and 7UP builds slowly and is easy to maintain at a humming level. But feel free to adjust the alcohol level to suit your preference.

I think you owe it to yourself to give this simple 2-ingredient cocktail a try. 😉

How to Make a Jameson and 7UP

The easiest cocktail recipes are the ones with the ingredients in their title, right?

All you really need is:

  • Jameson Irish Whisky: Of course, you’ll need Jameson!
  • 7UP: I generally make this with Diet 7UP, but you can also use Regular 7UP.
  • Ice: Jameson and 7UP is served over ice.
  • (optional) Garnishes: Garnish your drink with a lemon wedge or a cocktail cherry.

It’s also nice to garnish the drink with a lemon wedge. But if you don’t have lemon, it will still be delicious.

Clear Ice Takes Jameson and 7UP Up a Notch

Here’s a tip for an over the top Jameson and 7UP recipe: use clear ice! Clear ice is a crystal clear instead of cloudy like regular ice.

I love making our own clear ice at home: first boil your water, then use the directional freezing method (by insulating the sides and bottom of a container) to encourage the formation of clear ice on the top.

Equipment Needed

  • Highball Glass: A highball is a tall, skinny glass. You can also use a slightly larger Collins glass.
  • Bar Spoon: The long handle on bar spoons makes it really easy to stir cocktails and not make a mess.
  • Jigger: My go-to measuring tools for cocktails. They work perfectly for pouring in layers for cocktails.

When To Serve Jameson & 7UP

  • Summer cocktail
  • Summer barbecue
  • Brunch
  • Cocktail party
  • After dinner drink
  • Holiday Gathering (garnish with fresh cranberries for a festive twist)

Jameson and 7UP FAQs

What can I mix with Jameson Irish whisky?

What to mix with Jim Beam? The best mixers for Jameson are water, club soda, 7UP, Sprite, and Coke. Sweet and sour mix is also a good option.

What if I don’t have any 7UP?

If you’re all out of 7UP, there are several soda substitutions, including:

  • Sierra Mist
  • Sprite
  • Fresca
  • Store brand lemon lime soda

A soda like Mountain Dew will be a lot more intense/sweet and may mask the alcohol taste a bit.

You can also use a lemon or lime seltzer water–you can stir in some simple syrup!

How many calories are in Jameson and 7UP?

How many calories are in a Jameson and 7UP is a common question. Jameson Whiskey (100 ml) contains 221 calories. There are 150 calories in 1 can (12 oz) of 7UP.
